I need your help!

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

hope you all had a great new year! ^_^ mine was spent asleep in front of Kung-Fu Panda. I can think of worse ways to spend it.

So, to 2009.

For me this year is a biggy, because my 3-year Cartoon Network contract comes to an end at the end of january. While this contract was intended to make sure I didn’t sell ideas to any other tv companies, one of the unfortunate side-effects was that I wasn’t allowed to sell my ideas to ANYONE! As such, a lot of potential work dropped me, as a publication often won’t want to print your work unless they can have at least some of the rights to it. Essentially, I lost the control to give my work to who I choose.

Now obviously there have been ways around it in certain cases, but for the most part what was originally an exciting contract to work exclusively for CN turned into a chokehold on my career (without, despite CN’s best efforts, any tv shows for the trouble!). There were a particularly troublesome seven months a year ago when i had NO work because of this. So, while I’m sad nothing came out of this contract, i’m very excited to be in control of my creations again.

So, I’m going wherever I can with what I do. I’ve produced little portfolio booklets showing my main characters which I’m going to be taking to potential clients. And here is where i need your help. before, i have asked for help here in similar matters and people have responded in spades. Fact is, I really need to find some more work, somewhere to put the things I do, and if you can help at all I would really appreciate it.

I have a lot ready to go. Everything from Angry Little Robot to My Own Genie, from Whubble to Bear, from Raoul to Bohda Te, I’m pitching them all wherever I think they could benefit. I’ll be opening my work up to Video Game companies, taking ALR and Whubble to newspapers, syndicates. I have this children’s book called Potomibo I want to take to book publishers. I’ll be going back to card companies, and showing my work to more children’s comics. and so much more besides. I like what I have and I want to see how far I can take it all.

So if you can think of good places, if you happen to know any contacts, if you think you can help in any way, that would be amazing. if you’d prefer to email me, i’m at sixtyfootmonkey@yahoo.com. This is me, trying to find a new way in.

thank you ^_^ i will show my gratitude with cake for everyone. (cake isn’t real).
