Fish-Head Steve the rejected script

Last year I was fortunate enough to be drawing my strip Fish-Head Steve for the excellent (but now sadly gone) comic The DFC. Of all the rough scripts I sent over, only two ever got turned down outright. One for being too disturbing (?), and the other was this one, about Fish-Head Steve getting glasses.

In hindsight I think they were right, this one does seem to be lacking direction or purpose a little. It just ambles along, fun enough, but it’s obvious I was making it up as I went I think.

The same could be said about most of my work though, granted :p

    me thinks you should show us the disturbing one ;)
    having collected and enjoyed all issues of the dfc, i was very sad when they had to cancel it, heres to hoping someone picks it up again!!

    This is the first time I’ve seen fish head steve. How good. It reminds me of being in Art School.

    There was a friend of a friend called ‘Cartoon Chicken Head’ and the more my flatmates and I looked at people the more we could see their ‘cartoon animal’. We had a cartoon cow head, cartoon bush baby head, cartoon mere cat head, cartoon horse head etc etc until all the animals in the zoo were gone.

    Bizarre. I loved the cow boy in this one. So good.

    Hee hee, i love that nothing really happens in this, it just makes it funnier.
    Any chance we’ll see a collected edition of steve or at least another pay for download now that there’s no way we can get the dfc back issues.
